‘Be Brave’
 

A number of different versions were produced before I returned to a phone demo I recorded early on, which had a fast tempo and funky guitar.

The first versions were slow piano based arrangements that developed into a recording heavily influenced by ‘Forbidden Colours’ by Sakamoto and Sylvian.

Kevan also did a slow paced arrangement featuring a muted trumpet and masses of space (available on the deluxe edition). I just felt that something was still missing and went back to my phone memos to find that guitar riff version that I had forgotten about. The album version is built on that funky guitar part and now has a much more positive vibe than the ballad arrangements.

The claps on the track are inspired by the song 'Questions' by Middle Kids.
