Yes dear readers, the album has been finished. Finished as in all recording, tracking, overdubs and mixing have been completed. Six songs have also been mastered, leaving just five songs to be mastered, and then all the music is done.
Of course an album is not truly complete until all the artwork has been created and this is in hand - there are numerous ideas floating around for the cover and once we have chosen the most suitable, we are one step closer to the album being released.
Phew.
Yes, phew. This has been a hard slog. The last few months have been perhaps the loneliest for me as I have worked completely alone on the final tracking and recording, as Kevan has moved house and is still without his studio since the summer started. His focus has been elsewhere since moving, leaving me to bring the project to a conclusion. It is strange because Kevan never took part in the actual tracking and recording, but at the time I recorded the parts, it was reassuring to know I could email him the mix in-progress and get immediate feedback. The last few months he has been busy with other things and I really felt adrift. Thankfully I had put so much work into the arrangements already, that my path was set ages ago and it was just a matter of me following my heart. I myst say, the last three tracks I produced ('I Feel', 'Be Brave' and 'I'd Rather Be Your Kite') are the most positive and fun songs I have ever written - they almost produced themselves.
And so the To Do lists are over and it is a case of tidying up loose ends. I believe the release date will be early 2022, so watch this space.
