Remember that To Do List from last year? Well quite by chance I chose to do this Blog today, and the last To Do List post was on 8 August 2020, almost exactly a year to the day.
This list seems smaller than the last one as we get closer to completion, but there is still a lot to do:
Drums were added to What If and Learning to Lie by Chris and sound beautiful in my arrangement - I could not be happier. So now I am ensuring all my other parts on those recordings are working together properly. What If is so complex I am making sure that crossovers of instruments do not lose anything in their melodies.
There are three tracks ready to master, and then Be Brave, I Feel and Kite to complete. However, listening to Flares recently made me think the 'open night pub singer' version is not quite right, therefore I have been working on a revised version of it! I'm a glutton for punishment, as this was a track I had previously considered finished - not now!
Add to this list that I contracted Covid during the first week of the summer holidays and so my house is in full on lockdown. The effects of the virus on me has been minimal but my wife and son have bad chesty coughs, so a worrying time nonetheless. We still have 6 days left in isolation and I can't stop thinking about the Lennon song of the same name: "We're afraid to be alone. Everybody got to have a home. Isolation" - I've never been afraid to be alone John! But I guess when you're stuck in a house with others, you want space, and when you have space you want to be close to others - that is the human condition. I know we are all looking forward to going out again in 6 days time. I need to record vocals, so I can't wait to be in the house alone again.
